Sorry I haven't posted in awhile

I haven't posted in awhile. I don't even know where to start. There's been so much going on the last few months, it's just heart wrenching. Our friends Craig & Kristi lost their baby boy Kaden Alex Kuehl on April 20th, 2009 after a 17 day battle with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia CDH. CDH is an opening in the diaphragm (The dome-shaped muscle that seperates the chest cavity from the abdomen.) The hole allows the abdominal organs to push into the chest cavity. CDH is a life-threatening birth defect because it limits the growth of the lungs. CDH occurs in every 1-2000 live births in the United States. Approximately 1,800 babies are born each year with CDH. Approximately 50% of all babies born with CDH die. CDH happens just as often as Spina Bifida and Cystic Fibrosis yet many have never heard of CDH. I had never heard of this condition until Kristi informed us and I think that faster we get the word out about these issues that can take our babies away from us the faster they will find a cure. Craig & Kristi are the strongest people I have ever known and I admire their strength during this difficult time. It's really times like these that make you appreciate what you have and puts everything in perspective.

I know that Kaden is playing with Aly & Izy's baby brother C up in heaven and together they will keep an eye on our girls...

Aly's clubfoot update

Aly had a minor set back with her club foot because she has learned to kick off her brace every night, so needless to say she hasn't been wearing it properly. At our last doctors appointment she was put back in a full leg cast. She gets a new cast every weds. until her foot is corrected back to position then we will try the brace again. So here are Aly & Izy taking a bath together with my make shift cast cover... LOL!! She's gonna love this one when she gets older

Visit to UCSF

Aly had an appointment with Dr. Frieden today at UCSF Vascular Anomalies Center. Aly has been off the steriod Prednisolone (Orapred) to treat her hemangioma on her left hand since January 10th and it has gotten a bit puffy again. Dr. Frieden has suggested that we keep in eye on it to make sure that it doesn't ulcerate again and if it continues to grow, we will try another medication, but only if needed. I don't know much about this new medication other then it's used on patients for high blood pressure and it's still under review for treatment of hemangiomas. So, hopefully it stops growing and she doesn't need to be on any other medications. Other then that Aly's hand is doing well.

Bath Time

Aly & Izy test out their new bath seat made buy Safety 1st,

I really like this seat because it hooks onto the side of the

bathtup so the seat doesn't tip over!

Lunch Time

Aly & Izy think it's so funny to make a big mess while they eat, but they're so darn cute!!

So much can happen in a day

Today marks alot of firsts for Aly & Izy:

  • First day of their blog
  • First cold
  • First time Izy sat up all by herself!!
  • First time using their new little playzone
So it's been a very busy day for us...

Then there was two

This is Alyssa in utero, isn't that amazing!

This is Isabella, I can't believe they can take pictures like this!

In the Beginning

We started with two little eggs, till one split into two! So yes, we originally were preggers with triplets, but we lost little baby C early on. Aly and Izy came from the egg that split so that makes them identical twins.
